Writer’s choice – See Below in My Notes
My professor said that the sources should all be from peer-reviewed journals that are no more than 10 years old. This term paper is for my Developmental Psychology: Lifespan class. There are biological, cognitive, and psychosocial domains to each developmental stage that exists in one’s lifespan. The developmental stage I chose for the paper is Adolescence, which according to the book, is from 11-18 years old. It is important to dive into/write about Erik Erikson and the psychosocial crisis of “identity versus role confusion” that happens during adolescence.
As far as cognitive development, for this stage it falls under Jean Piaget’s category of “Formal Operational.”
Here is what is listed in the course syllabus about this term paper:
There will be one required term paper for the course. The paper will require you to choose a life stage in developmental psychology by defining the stage, its characteristics, discuss its specific challenges and psychosocial crisis. Each paper will be graded on content, unity, coherence, specific support, sentence and paragraph structure, clear connection to the course content, and correct format. The paper should be APA format, between four to five pages in length, double spaced, 1-inch margins on all sides, and 12 pt. font uploaded on Moodle. It will be worth 25% of your final grade.
Here are the instructions for the paper:
Developmental Psychology Term Paper
Instructions:
Please choose a life stage from the developmental psychology textbook. (e.g. Young Adulthood stage)
The paper should have an introduction, middle, and a conclusion along with a reference page and a cover page based on the APA format.
Define what the stage is? What are the characteristics, issues, and challenges of that developmental stage? Can also provide related statistics.
APA format requires that you cite sources within the body of the paper. For example,
According to Berger (2019) “the science of human development seeks to understand how and why people change over time” (p.4).
If you use a direct quote, you provide a page number. If you only summarize it, you don’t need to put a page number. Just the author’s name/s and publication year is fine in that case.
There are links provided for the APA format, and the library page on our class Moodle page under the week of February 23rd.
Please review the sample APA style paper.
Please refer to the course syllabus under the section for term paper for more information on the format of the paper.
