Choose a topic that interests and inspires you, a topic that you are eager to learn more about, or a topic that poses a challenge that you wish to take up.
Write a well-organized analytic essay on an article of your choice related to Edwidge Danticat’s The Dew Breaker (clear thesis, well-defined arguments, structured paragraphs, convincing evidenc
e). Use a reliable (preferably peer-reviewed) resource from the library databases: an article in an academic journal, an article in an edited volume, or book chapter (published by an academic publisher).
The critical material should be
1) a resource that discusses themes that appear in Danticat’s novel but does not analyze the novel directly.
Your task is to:
1) Briefly present the critical position of the text in the opening paragraph.
2) Connect one or more arguments presented in the article into your reading of the novel, through the articulation of a strong thesis with a clear position & three arguments.
3) Discuss each argument in well-constructed and logically organized paragraphs, that progress in a clear trajectory (why is argument #1 first and argument #2 second? What is your logic?).
Consider: how does the resource deepen or enhance your understanding of the novel? How does it help you prove your argument? Remember, resources can be used as material you disagree with (counterarguments).
Student (user) instructions to the essay service writer (please message me f you have any concerns or questions, I would be happy to even forward some work that my professor finds good):
1. This is a literature and english assignment so please no use of (I,my or any first person)
2. This is the the thesis statement that I have written, my teacher did like it. You can choose to slightly edit it but please stick to the same topic. Unless you find a fantastic new topic to cover for the essay.
My thesis so far: In The Dew Breaker, Edwidge Danticat explores the conflict between personal moral codes and the duties of a former member of the Haitian government’s secret police through the character of the titular Dew Breaker, as analyzed by: (implement secondary source here).
3. In terms of secondary source, you are free to choose the source that fits best with the topic of my thesis or with the new thesis (if you decided to change it). As mentioned in the teacher’s instructions, it can be an article, another novel or anything that contains text in it really.
Lastly, I have attached the novel itself. This is not a very well-known novel so I would assume you have not read it. If you have then fantastic! if not then no worries. Each chapter is sort of an individual story in itself so reading the full novel is not necessary. But please do take a look at it as some quotes from the novel might be good. Also if you would like to take a few days to read the novel then please do as it is a very short read.
