Prompt: The importance of stories and roles stories play in our lives, how they shape us, and what happens when stories are forgotten. Tommy Orange’s There There is a direct response to the absence of natives stories within our cultural consciousness; he created a collection of the stories that are often untold or lost to history, and in doing so, he has opened the eyes of millions who might not have had a window into these lives.
Task: What stories do you think need to be told? What perspectives go unnoticed? Currently, whose stories are going untold? Whose voices need to be heard?
Argue the value of these stories, explain why it is important they are told and what the world has to gain from hearing these voices.
