In this week’s assigned chapters/lectures, you learn about sex offenders and how they are treated both legally and socially, the ways in which they are assessed and treated clinically, and their risk factors for recidivism. Given all that you’ve learned now, imagine that you are a state legislator interested in passing legislation that will prevent sex offenses and decrease the recidivism of existing offenders. What types of programs, tools, or policies will you advocate for and try to pass into state law? Explain how and why those options will prevent sex offenses and decrease recidivism.
