The use of SSKIN bundle on the bedside for patient that are high risk of pressure ulcer

Broome and Marshall (2021) argue that professional nurses are required to “advance effective healthcare for society…. and think about your current complex practice environment” For the purpose of this assignment, you are required to propose an area of nursing practice for development related to your area of practice (Minimising the patient risk for pressure ulcer development while in the hospital by using the SSKIN BUNDLE on the bedside).

Suggested headings may include:

a) Identification of the area of practice that requires development.
-minimising the development of pressure ulcer
b) Describe the current practice.
-currently, there is no SSKIN bundle on the bedside of the ward that I am working.
c) Describe the background to the initiative,
-older patients do not get turns at a certain time on the bed (even though patients are on air mattress they still need to be turned in bed). this make them end up having high risk for pressure sores during their stay in the hospital.
d) Determine the impetus for change

-preventing pressure sores, minimise budget, patient comfortability.
f) Determine the challenges involved
-Short staffing
g) Identify possible barriers and how same may be overcome
h) Identify key stakeholders and the roles they may play in the practice
