Major Essay 2: Rhetorical analysis of an ad campaign (100 pts)
- Choose a an ad campaign for a major product or company which has multiple ads and advertising formats.
- For example, consider: aerie campaign, or w new product from a fast food restaurant, or a new car, Progressive Insurance, Gieco Insurance, etc.
- Print out, read, watch, explore, and annotated as best as possible.
- Reflect on its use of basic rhetorical devices, specifically, Ethos, Logos, and Pathos.
- Write a 3-4 page response paper where you:
- Summarize company/product
- Summarize the overall ad campaign
- Analyze the document in relations to Ethos, Logos, Pathos
- Discuss the successfulness of the language/images
- Find at least TWO (2) articles from the PSU library that discusses the campaign directly OR rhetorical marketing strategies.
- Use citations, you are expected to use these correctly at this point.
- Organize in proper MLA format.
- Specific items to be graded: Thesis, Topic Sentences, Transitions, Paragraph Cohesion, Grammar, Conventions, MLA format and citations, conclusion paragraph.
