Assignment Instructions for the (Mini) Literature Review and Synthesis Paper

Purpose: To review and synthesize two articles on the same topic.
Assignment Guidelines:
To gain expertise in reviewing, appraising, and paraphrasing a study, then synthesizing the literature reviewed, to determine best practice based on scientific evidence. For this assignment, please use the two articles posted here for writing your mini literature review and synthesis paper.
Scenario:
You are a DNP administrative leader acutely aware of the increased readmissions rate, at your facility, within 30 days for patients diagnosed with heart failure. You are leading a quality improvement (QI) team of multidisciplinary stakeholders. At the last QI team meeting, the cardiology nurse mentioned motivational interviewing as a way to assist patients improve self-care management. You decide to conduct a literature review on motivational interviewing and heart failure self-care management to determine the current state of this practice based on the scientific evidence.
It is recommended a Synthesis Matrix table (presented above) be used to organize your notes from the two research articles. You may find it helpful to use the Synthesis Matrix to extract and identify the major themes, strengths, weaknesses, and critical gaps of each study and then use the various columns to compare/contrast the two articles. You are not required to use this table, however, you are encouraged to try it and/or try composing a similar document organized by concepts in order to assist you with synthesizing across studies. Review and synthesize the two studies posted above in a 3-4-page paper (double-spaced; not including title page and references in page count) that includes the following:
Review: In a paraphrased format, appraise and summarize each of the two studies provided above. What are the strengths and limitations of the studies? (Tip: Consider the elements of critical appraisal that you practiced in previous modules).
Synthesize: What is/are the main point(s)/ takeaway message(s) of the literature based on the two assigned articles? Integrate and synthesize while comparing and contrasting across studies. In their totality, what are these articles saying about the literature on patients diagnosed with heart failure and motivational interviewing? Cite the articles to support your point(s).
Please use APA 7th format, including a title page, in-text citations, page numbering, and reference list (on a separate page at the end of the paper).
Assignment Uploads – Iterative Writing: (1) Draft and (2) Revision
1) Upload the paraphrased review of the two articles and the synthesis draft for review and feedback by faculty (not graded) by 11/10/21.
2) After reviewing the feedback from faculty, make revisions accordingly. Post the final, revised version of your review and synthesis to the assignment submission area in an upcoming module for grading by 12/10/21.
