Early Childhood Curriculum: A Constructivist Approach
Use these reading as the references… Overview of Learning Theories (Berkeley Graduate Division: GSI Teaching and Research Center, n.d.), watching Theories of Learning (CustomTeach, 2009), and reading chapter 3, “Learning and the Three Kinds of Knowledge,†of your textbook (Branscombe et al., 2014), reflect on your current or prior teaching experiences (using experiences from ages 3 through third grade, if possible) and respond to the following questions as you consider the learning experiences of your students:
What learning theories are most reflected in your classroom? Explain using examples.
In a few sentences, describe a classroom learning activity or lesson that engaged your students. What was the evidence, for you, that the activity was engaging? What approaches to learning seem to be most effective? Why?
In a few sentences, describe a classroom learning activity or lesson that did not engage your students. How do you know the students were disinterested?
As you reflect on the learning theories in the course readings and video, think about your teaching experiences. What learning experiences do you feel are most meaningful and significant for your students?
What would you like to do or what will you do differently if possible? Explain
