b- How did migration into these regions in the 18th century define the cultures and traditions of the place? How did migration out of these regions in the 20th century transform, transport, and change these cultures and traditions?

c- What have been the defining characteristics, stereotypes, and counter narratives of Appalachian and upland southern masculinity and manhood? How have class and race informed these identities?
d- What have been the defining characteristics, stereotypes, and counter narratives of Appalachian and upland southern femininity and womanhood? How have class and race informed these identities?
SECTION III: THE CULTURES-
e- What have been some of the key folklores of these regions, how have people disparaged, borrow, monetized, adopted, or ridiculed these cultures?
f- How have the various mountains been written into and out of notions and cultures of the ‘south’ since 1850? Why has this occurred with such frequency?
