To implement any change in health care organization research of
evidence-based practice is a must. Changes based on evidence-based
practice (EBP) will not only save time and cost but more importantly,
improve patient care and outcomes.  (Melnyk, B. M., &
Fineout-Overholt, E., 2018).Transforming EBP for its use in practice
requires a substantial change in nursing culture (Newhouse, R, et. al.,
2007). Dissemination strategies aim to spread knowledge and the
associated evidence-based interventions within health care
organizations.

One of the dissemination I would use is to engage and to get
endorse from leadership. Leadership is critical to build organizational
readiness for change. The barrier that can encounter during
dissemination is the leader’s biases and not readiness for change.
Therefore, I would create a presentation that would include the essence
and importance of change, with outcomes and a measurement plan. In
addition, I will draft a policy where each recommendation will be
supported by evidence. 

The second strategy I would suggest is scheduling a series of
educational presentations throughout the hospital or involved unit to
introduce the new policy. The barrier I may face is the time limit of
health care providers. Therefore, I would provide several series of
online courses with rotation of the days and times to engage as many
health care workers as possible. 

The dissemination strategy  I would not be inclined to use is a
poster presentation. Although poster presentations efficiently
communicate concepts and data to an audience using a combination of text
and visuals. The poster may have limited information; therefore,
creating more biases or distrust.

Developing a Culture of Evidence-Based Practice

Dissemination refers to spreading information to the public on
specific issues without expecting direct feedback. Dissemination
facilitates evidence-based practice (EBP), as its primary purpose is to
foster information spread concerning evidence-based interventions
promoting their implementation in practice settings to enhance patient
outcomes. After conducting extensive research on medication errors and
their implications on safe nursing practice, the researcher should
disseminate the findings to the relevant stakeholders for improved
implementation and compliance to evidence-based measures to mitigate
medication errors in patient care settings (Melnyk &
Fineout-Overholt, 2018). Analyzing appropriate dissemination techniques
in nursing practice facilitates evidence-based nursing practice
improving healthcare quality and patient safety.

Favorable Dissemination Strategies

When broadcasting useful information on medication errors, the
researcher would use two distinct dissemination techniques. Poster
presentations are the first credible techniques relevant in
disseminating insights obtained from the medication error research.
Posters are practical strategies to communicate research findings in
brief and concise formats (Mick, 2017). For instance, regarding my
research on valuable techniques to reduce medication error incidence, I
would inform my audience on the feasibility of barcode medication
administration (BCMA) systems in optimizing the medication handling
process alleviating error risk (Lin et al., 2018). Highlighting the BCMA
benefits on the poster alongside its correlation with evidence-based
measures will entice the audience and deliver the intended message to
enhance compliance and cooperation from relevant stakeholders. Moreover,
poster presentations use enticing images to attract the audience’s
attention, streamlining information delivery (Sarver & McNett,
2020). The researcher should have handouts or brochures for the
audience, giving more details on the research topic as the poster may
not deliver detailed information. Poster presentations are suitable for
disseminating research findings to specific audiences.

Another credible dissemination technique for evidence-based
information is through nursing team meetings. Medication errors affect
the nursing profession significantly, as nurses are the primary
caregivers to patients in most practice settings. Nurses can convene in a
session and learn about strategies to mitigate medication error
incidence and their contributions to the successful implementation of
the EBP project (Sarver & McNett, 2020). Furthermore, hand-over
sessions among nurses may also be helpful nursing team meetings
facilitating information transfer on medication error reduction
techniques. I would use this dissemination technique as it ensures
optimal nursing involvement in the EBP project implementation. Choosing
the appropriate dissemination measures enhances information transfer to
relevant parties.

Unfavorable Dissemination Techniques

When disseminating information on medication errors in the
clinical settings, I would not use emails and brochures. Emails can be
overwhelming to formulate and may not reach larger audiences because of
technological barriers (Mick, 2017). On the other hand, I would not use
brochures, as they are just handouts without the relevant support
information from posters. Choosing the correct dissemination strategies
informs EBP implementation.

Barriers during Dissemination

Numerous barriers may affect information dissemination in nursing
practice. Resistance to change by nurses impedes knowledge transfer due
to minimal cooperation from the relevant parties. Another barrier is
inadequate information concerning EBP measures. Nurses without
sufficient knowledge on EBP and its importance to nursing practice may
not attend the dissemination meetings or view the posters (Melnyk &
Fineout-Overholt, 2018). Ways to address these barriers include
extensive nursing education on EBP importance regularly through training
workshops. Education fosters compliance in clinical settings and
reduces resistance.

Conclusion

EBP dissemination boosts compliance with the proposed change
measures. Posters and nursing team meetings are appropriate
dissemination techniques relevant to medication error reduction.
Addressing barriers related to resistance and non-compliance enhances
