Which patient encounter as a student nurse practitioner was your most memorable for this course? What made it memorable and what might you do differently if you were to see that patient again?
Was my diabetic patient with A1c of 11, gangrene toes on the left foot. I have attached her SOAP note so you know the patients history and her care plan. She was most memorable because she appeared so ill and truly was trying to take control of her health. She unfortunately passed away 4 days after this visit before her toe amputation surgery was scheduled. She had gone for a functioning independent patient to wheelchair bond from the diabetic ulcer gone gangrene and 2L NC post COVID, all within 2 months.
