Counselor Know Thyself Assignment
“Counselor Know Thyself “TEST REPORT
The format of the paper should be as follows:
Section I. Biopsychosocial (I am looking for the salient information to help explain/balance/understand your test results. Share your history in a brief report, bringing in the significant psychological and social experiences you may want to reference as you describe how your test results do and do not fit your understanding of yourself and personality.)
This section should contain a 1-to-2-page, double-spaced, autobiographical sketch. Information about your age, number of siblings, family history, psychological maturation should all be included. Everything of relevance to your current life situation should be included. You want to provide information that a counselor would like to know about their client entering treatment.
Section II: Instrument review (show me you have researched to administer the assessment ethically)
You will need to research to complete this section. Use the following outline (provided below) for main headings (e.g., General Info, Practical Evaluation, and Technical Evaluation of Instrument) and address the information below under that heading:
I. General Information
A. Title
B. Authors of the instrument
C. Forms, groups to which applicable
D. Time required for administration
E Cost
F. Publisher
II. Practical Evaluation
A. Qualifications for administrators
B. Use in counseling
III. Technical Evaluation
A. Norms
B. Validity and reliability
Section III. Test data (Report the results from the interpretive report)
This section will contain all the relevant test data. On the top of the page should be the name of the test given. Then, relate the circumstances under which you gave the test, your mental status when taking the test, and any comments about the situation that may be relevant to your interpretation. Then, present your scores on each of the scales measured by the instrument. The scores should be in a readily interpretable form (i.e., T-scores). After delivering the actual results, a brief interpretation of what those scores represent should be given. What do the TEST scores mean? Students should do this in 1 to 2 pages.
Section IV. Interpretation (I am looking for your experience, tell me what fits and doesn’t. How do your history and experiences explain how and why? Reflect on the experience. Have you gained any insights? Considered anything differently than before etc.)
Given all the information provided, what kind of person is portrayed. What do these results have to say about YOU? In what ways does the biopsychosocial information help you verify or understand the test interpretive report? Which aspects of the social history may influence results? In three to five double-spaced pages, CRITICALLY evaluate how accurately these results have captured salient elements of your intrapsychic functioning. How closely does the portrait of you presented in Section III correspond to your self-concept? How valuable did you find these tests in providing additional self-insight?
APA 7th!
This paper should not be any longer than 6-10 double-spaced pages. Remember, what is important is not really the length but the quality of what you say. Make your points clearly and succinctly. Make sure that you back up your assertions with AT LEAST a well-reasoned argument. Thoughtfulness should be the operating assumption for this paper. Try to use the information presented in the tests to their fullest capacity. Do not be afraid to go and get outside interpretive sources for evaluating your results on the personality test.
