Clinical Problem Statement
December 17th, 2022
This is a research paper that is based on a PICO style-clinical problem. The google drive has the form to be used to complete this paper and also a pdf of the textbook(as a guide you may choose to use the research critique summary table on pg 396-397).

*Objective:
Mandatory use of 5 primary sources for literature review (4 quantitative & 1 qualitative article) on the clinical problem. The primary sources should address the problem, intervention, comparison and outcome.
*Narrative: An elderly diabetic patient living in a nursing home has a stage III pressure ulcer on foot. The wound care nurse has to decide if it is better to use a standard moist wound therapy or vacuum assisted closure (negative pressure wound therapy).
*Clinical Problem Statement: Does an elderly diabetic patient with a stage III pressure ulcer have more success with a vacuum assisted closure compared to standard moist wound therapy treatment?
*PICO:
P: elderly patient who has stage 3 ulcer on foot
I: vacuum assisted closure
C: standard moist wound therapy
O: improved wound healing as measured by pressure grading system guidelines with ?????
*Perhaps areas to research are:
Measure time / how long it takes to heal wound
changes in the size of wound as it heals
amount of infection – how does treatment affect it
