Write an essay in which you discuss Theodore Roosevelt’s Osawatomie speech (1910; also called “the New Nationalism” speech) against the backdrop of the Progressive Era. How radical is the speech? Describe in your essay what kind of a reformer Roosevelt is. What types of reform does Roosevelt suggest? Can his speech be linked to a specific political ideology or political tradition? Indicate in what ways his speech can be considered representative of the reform tradition of that era.
