I have attached an assignment brief, copy of the draft feedback from lecturer and an additional instruction document to this order
1. Instructions to incorporate when writing:
Abstract –
– Need to include abstract before introduction
Introduction
– The introduction should include – what is a pressure ulcer and why is it a problem. The prevalence of PUs in hospital and the nurse’s role in preventing them.
– What techniques can be used and what do we know about the challenges already?
– Aim of study/ research question and objectives.
Literature Search –
Could be re-phrase as a question – What are the challenges faced by nurses in preventing pressure ulcers in adults’ nurses in the UK?
Include any other question this essay will be answering/addressing
Keywords –
Set out the keywords in a table according to either PICO/ SPIDER/ SPICE OR PEO. Also, State why you used either one.
Using Boolean operators –
Should not include a table for the Boolean operators but should be describe in sentences. Also, state why they are used and what they do e.g., broaden the search and refine the search.
Criteria for Inclusion –
– It Should include an inclusion/ exclusion criteria table and then follow this with a paragraph that outlines the rationale for the criteria. Consider the type of settings, type of nurses you included and why, why UK only etc.
This should be followed by a paragraph on the critical appraisal tools you have used and why and then the PRISMA flow chart.
TOXNET, PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library –
State why these databases? Give a rationale for why these is chosen.
Main Body of Literature Review –
– This chapter should include summary table.
– Hydration
– 12 studies were cited this chapter. It should only discuss the papers included in the themes. If you want to compare the findings to other studies not included, then this can be done in the discussion chapter.
– I would suggest combining some themes together so that you can discuss more than one paper in each theme. – e.g., patient characteristics – age, mental state, organizational – training/ equipment/ workload, nutrition & hydration.
– Some say across the UK? You need more detail of studies and critique the methods they have used. You should use the critical appraisal tool questions to help you do this.
2. Additional Supervisor Feedback/Instruction on dissertation:
– Include a table of content. Also structure the dissertation in section formats (Introduction, methods, findings, discussion and conclusions)
